Milestones of Luis Peñalver

Luis Peñalver was born in Cumaná, in the state of
Sucre, on November 20, 1941. At the age of seven, he moved, along with his
family, to Caracas. In the capital, he started playing baseball.

In 1960, he began his career in the East. During
23 seasons, he also played in Navegantes del Magallanes, Águilas del Zulia
and Tigres de Aragua. However, his stardom was hatched at the Leones del Caracas. In this team
conquered six championships. One of
the most important, the Caribbean Series, in 1982. In his career as
professional, he won 84 duels and 45 complete games.

His greatest achievement was to conquer gold in the Pan American Games, in
1959. These continental games were held in Chicago. In that
final, Peñalver was only 17 years old, and his game was key to the victory against
Puerto Rico.

Conclusions

His vision of the game and the dominant pitch
led to being a baseball star, in his country. Since 2008, he was part of the
Venezuelan Baseball Hall of Fame.
