The National Team ends the year with a positive balance.

Rafael Dudamel’s team beat Japan 1-4 in the last friendly match of the season, with goals from Salomón Rondón (signed a ‘hat-trick’) and Yeferson Soteldo. This victory encourages the team to face the Copa América, among other commitments, next year.

The hero of the Venezuelan National Team

If someone will guide the team in the next matches, that will be Salomón Rondón. The striker shone in his last performance with the national team. Against Japan, he scored a hat-trick in just 34 minutes. “Personally I am very happy to finish with a hat-trick,” said the Dalian Yifang player. Thus, the year ends with nine goals.

Thanks to this year’s goals, Rondón has become the top scorer of his team. However, the Venezuelan emphasizes the importance of the union. “The most important thing is that we continue to grow as a team.” And he added, “that victory is the perfect end to a very positive year with Vinotinto.”

The bittersweet start of the Selection

Dudamel’s boys started the year with a victory (3-1) against Messi’s Argentina. However, the national team coach made his position available to the Venezuelan Football Federation due to problems that arose in that same concentration. Days later, the FVB ratified him in his position, a few months after the Copa América.

The first challenge: Brazil 2019

The Dudamel boys had a very clear objective: to reach the semifinals, a phase that they have not yet played in their history. With two draws and a victory they went to the quarterfinals as group seconds. Again, the faces were seen with Argentina, which finally defeated them 2-0.

A promising 2020

The National Team ends the season with six wins, four draws and two defeats. 21 goals for and 10 against. In front of them, an inspiring year. On the one hand, the qualifying rounds for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. On the other hand, the dispute for the 2020 Copa América, organized in Argentina and Colombia, which has been brought forward to be played in the same year as the Eurocup.
